Utah's Heber City Police Department has been testing out artificial intelligence software to save the department time on writing police reports.

The new technology can save an officer 6-8 hours of work spent transcribing body camera footage and writing reports, but the downside is that it's not always accurate, as in the case of a recent report that claimed a police officer had been magically transformed into a frog.

It turns out that the bodycam footage was picking up the movie "The Princess and the Frog" playing in the background.

I can see the confusion. Prince Naveen's costume is somewhat similar to a police uniform, and he did magically transform into a frog. But, it's a pretty major glitch if the AI program can't tell the difference between a cartoon prince and a real police officer, frog or not.

Heber City Police Sgt. Rick Keel told FOX 13 News,

The body cam software and the AI report writing software picked up on the movie that was playing in the background, which happened to be 'The Princess and the Frog.' That's when we learned the importance of correcting these AI-generated reports.

Yeah, I'd say proofreading is pretty important, especially in the case of official police reports! Just goes to show you can't believe anything you read on the internet, even if the source looks official.

Try as we might, the science of turning humans into frogs hasn't yet caught up to the magic of Disney.
