California Democrats passed a trio of redistricting bills Thursday, a day after Republicans in the Texas House passed new maps of their own.

The state Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a challenge from California Republicans who filed a lawsuit earlier this week requesting an emergency injunction to stop the redistricting effort on the grounds that the legislature didn't give voters enough notice.
Interestingly enough, voters could still deny California Democrats the new map, as the process is required to go through a special election in November where voters will decide whether or not to approve the map.

Five districts in the proposed map would shift from Republican to Democratic:
Three safe Republican districts, represented by Reps. Doug LaMalfa, Kevin Kiley and Ken Calvert, would shift to safe Democratic
One safe Republican district, represented by Rep. Darrell Issa, would shift to lean Democratic
And one lean Republican district, which Democratic Rep. Adam Gray narrowly won by 187 votes in 2024, would become safe Democratic
Additionally, four lean Democratic districts would become safe Democratic
Welp...
