The E84 highway in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, has transformed the rumble strip.

No longer does the annoying bumpy sections of road alert drivers to dangers ahead, but now they alert them to culture and art, specifically the last movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, aka "The Ode to Joy".

The project comes courtesy of the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy.

Ali Obaid Al Hefaiti, the director of Fujairah Fine Arts Academy, recommends hitting the bars at 60 mph to get the right tempo in the music.

He went on to explain the reason for creating the rumble bars:

I think that the project is focused on spreading the art culture. The combination of music in our lives and our normal lives.

That's borderline modern-art gobbledygook, but I'll give him a pass because I like Beethoven, and the project is at least clever and took some talent to create.

Not quite as clever as Beaker singing the "Ode to Joy," but it's clever all the same.
