One escaped inmate has been caught and ten are still missing after a Friday morning jailbreak at Orleans Justice Center, just west of Downtown New Orleans.

The inmates are considered armed and dangerous, and with the prison being only about two miles from Bourbon Street, authorities are asking residents and visitors to use extreme caution. What's more, the single inmate who was caught had been in the French Quarter, the city's tourist hotspot where Bourbon Street is located.

The jailbreak was discovered Friday morning during a routine headcount around 8:30. The inmates apparently escaped through this hole where they removed a toilet.

According to WDSU sources, the inmates were able to crawl through the hole, into the pipe chase, onto the loading dock, across the jail wall, and over the interstate.

Ten inmates still remain on the loose, and at least three of these men are facing charges of second-degree murder.

A violent offender warrant squad, along with the FBI and US Marshalls, are currently searching for the escapees.
