I didn't have this on my "This Isn't Satire" Bingo card today.
As reported by the UK's Daily Mail, a young group of Jewish men were filmed last Friday dismantling a 5-decade-old cross on the Great Orme summit in Llandudno, north Wales. A local man named Rob Williams posted videos and pictures of the incident.
The area is known for messages and pictures that are written in stone on the hillside, a tradition that goes back hundreds of years in the southern UK.
Locals are not happy, however, that the historical Christian cross was singled out with the explicit purpose of replacing it with a Jewish religious/political symbol.
Ironically, after the Jewish teens finished building the Star of David, Palestinian supporters/Muslims were filmed stomping on it before constructing a Palestinian flag next to it in protest.
The Daily Mail reported that the cross was restored, but those who helped were keen to note that they didn't do so for any "religious purpose" (heaven forbid!).
As news of the damage spread, locals went to the hillside and restored the stones to their original positions and by the end of the weekend, the cross was back in place, and the six-point star had gone.
Scott Puddey, who helped restore the landmark, said: 'I've just been up the Orme and thankfully normal service has been restored. I just finished off the last couple of corners just to make sure, as someone has already cleared most of it.
'I helped restore the cross not for any religious purpose, just that it's been a part of Llandudno for more than 50 years and looked after by locals and holidaymakers alike.'
Is this story a peak metaphor for the state of Western Civilization? 😂ðŸ˜
