Yes, it's true. Jesus Christ is God.
The Apostle Paul said this in his first letter to the church in Corinth:
...the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
For it is written: 'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.'
It's encouraging to see that some people's hubris/intelligence doesn't get in the way of understanding God's "foolishness." There have been many such men in history - many of the greatest philosophers, statesmen, and scientists have professed their faith in Jesus.
Even Napoleon Bonaparte:
Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I myself have founded great empires; but upon what did these creations of our genius depend? Upon force. Jesus alone founded His empire upon love, and to this very day millions would die for Him. I think I understand something of human nature; and I tell you, all these were men, and I am a man: none else is like Him; Jesus Christ was more than man.
