In an endless cycle of bad news, it's refreshing to have some good news for a change.
The massive healthcare consortium Kaiser Permanente has announced it will pause all transgender surgeries and procedures, beginning August 29th, for individuals under 19 years old.
According to Kaiser, the decision follows pressure from the Trump administration, which has been cracking down on transgender procedures for minors.
From The Daily Wire:
'Since January, there has been significant focus by the federal government on gender-affirming care, specifically for patients under the age of 19,' the company said. 'This has included executive orders instructing federal agencies to take actions to curtail access and restrict funding for gender-affirming care, hospital inquiries by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and regulatory changes to coverage and broader federal agency review, including by the Federal Trade Commission. Most recently, the U.S. Department of Justice issued subpoenas to doctors and clinics providing gender-affirming care to transgender youth, as part of ongoing federal investigations.'

The procedures being halted (for now) include mastectomies (the surgical removal of breasts) as well as other genital surgeries. The unfortunate news is that, according to Kaiser, they will continue to administer "other gender-affirming care," such as cross-sex hormone treatments, which are still horrifically detrimental to children's development, future fertility, and overall health.
Other hospitals are following suit, including Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, Rush University Medical Center, Phoenix Children's Hospital, Stanford Medical Center, and others, all citing pressure from the Trump administration as well.
Turns out the levers of power within the federal government can be used for good (who would've guessed?).
Chloe Cole, the now-famous detransitioner, is especially glad to hear the news. After all, Kaiser Permanente is the hospital system that, in her words, "destroyed her childhood."
