The Epstein saga took another interesting turn on Friday, after reports surfaced that Jeffrey Epstein's erstwhile right-hand woman, Ghislaine Maxwell, had been granted "limited immunity" by the Justice Department in exchange for her cooperation.

Despite what has, at times, seemed to be a rollercoaster of a situation with the "Epstein Files," this meeting between Maxwell and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche is one of the first real, tangible pieces of news that gives any sign of potential progress.

ABC News had more on the story:

Ghislaine Maxwell, who sources told ABC News initiated the meetings with the Department of Justice, answered questions for about nine hours over two days after being granted a limited form of immunity, the sources said.

The immunity allowed Maxwell to freely answer Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche's questions without fear that her responses could later be used against her, the sources said.

According the the reports, Maxwell provided the DOJ with a list of approximately 100 names of individuals who were linked to Epstein and his alleged sex trafficking operation. What Maxwell would ask for in exchange for her cooperation is up for debate.

Maxwell's attorney, David Markus, told ABC News afterward, 'There have been no asks and no promises.'

'We haven't asked for anything. This is not a situation where we are asking for anything in return for testimony or anything like that,' Markus added on Friday. 'Of course, everybody knows Ms. Maxwell would welcome any relief.'

It sounds like the immunity is mostly related to any crimes she implicated herself in while spilling the beans on Epstein. But again, the details aren't known.

What will come of these meetings between Maxwell and the DOJ? Who knows.
