Oh, whoopsie!

The Oregon DMV admitted this week that they accidentally registered more than 300 illegal immigrants to vote.

But it's illegal for them to register to vote, so I thought this was impossible!

I guess not.

So, the AP is reporting 300+. What do we think that real number is?

The Oregon DMV has admitted to registering at least hundreds of non-citizens to vote since at least 2021 due to errors in its auto voter registration system. Additionally, every registered voter is sent ballots by mail. The audit is still ongoing and more illegal registrations are expected to be found.

The [Oregon Secretary of State Office] defends the auto voter registration system. The DMV said before that it was impossible for noncitizens to be registered in its system.

Meanwhile, leftists and liberals responding to the revelation say the numbers are so small out of 3m registered voters that it doesn't matter and shouldn't matter anyway. Others argue for noncitizens to be given voting rights.

This isn't an Oregon unique vulnerability of course.

Many states have a checkbox asking if you want to be registered to vote whenever you apply for a driver's license.

If a state allows illegal aliens to obtain a driver's license it's possible they allow for this sort of "glitch" as well.

In the recent past, the DMV assured reporters for The Oregonian/OregonLive that no non-citizens could slip through its system for offering automatic voter registration to qualified Oregon residents ...

The DMV required all applicants to show proof of citizenship or legal residency to get a license. Only those who are citizens have their names and information passed along to the Secretary of State for potential voter registration, House said in 2019.

So, turns out, they either weren't telling the truth or the system failed hundreds of times.
