This summer states and municipalities around the country are once again increasing their minimum-wage requirements.

Here's a quick break down of the increases:

  • In Alaska, the minimum wage jumps from $11.73 to $13 an hour, part of legislation to reach $15 by 2027.

  • In Oregon, depending on the location, wages will increase to $14.05 an hour in non-urban areas, $16.30 an hour in the Portland metro area, and $15.05 in the rest of the state. It's less than a dollar increase per tier.

  • In September, Florida's minimum wage will increase $1.00 to $14.00.

  • In total, a record 88 jurisdictions — 23 states and 65 cities and counties — will raise their minimum wage floors by the end of 2025. Of those, 70 jurisdictions (9 states and 61 cities and counties) will reach or exceed a $15.00 minimum wage for some or all employees in 2025; and 53 jurisdictions (2 states and 51 cities and counties) will reach or exceed $17.00.

Of course, the progressive destructive left is cheering the raises.

They suggest that raising the minimum wage is the key for working families to keep up with inflation, all while ignoring the fact that the businesses paying those wages have to come up with that money somewhere.

And that means those businesses will have to raise prices on their goods and services to cover the difference.

Some states like Oregon and Missouri tied their minimum wage increases to inflation.

Otherwise known as Sisyphean Inflation Control.

If there were any economic experts in those states, they would project prices/wages increasing into infinity, but clearly there aren't, so it should be fine.

All that to say, enjoy your higher prices.

They're coming in hot this summer!
