Plano, Texas, residents got quite the shock at a Spirit Halloween this year.
NBCDFW reports that shoppers took videos for over 30 minutes while children ran through the aisles trying to catch it.
‘This was animal kingdom live,' said Arlene Pinkston, who was shopping with her daughters.
‘My daughter looked up and she said, "What in the world?" and she's like, "Is that a real monkey?" and I looked up and said, "Well, it's got a diaper on so I guess it is real,"' Pinkston said with a laugh.
Eventually, the monkey was coaxed down with a cookie and reunited with the owner.
The owner explained that someone had pushed the button on an animatronic Halloween decoration and it freaked the monkey out:
Somebody had pushed that little thing to see how he would react and he like spazzed out and like ran.

I'm with you little guy; hightailing it outta there is pretty much my reaction whenever I see a Spirit Halloween, too.
