You'd never know MI6 has never been led by a woman, considering every film and TV show for the last 30 years has shown a woman in that role 😂

I personally liked Judi Dench in her role of "M," the head of the UK's Secret Intelligence Service in Ian Fleming's James Bond novels (in real life, the leader is called "C" for "chief"). There was that whole girlboss lecture about Bond being a misogynist dinosaur back in 1995's GoldenEye, but the writers had her mellow out over the next two decades.

The actual new MI6 chief is Blaise Metreweli, who currently leads the "Q" division:

(Yes, that Q division)

Metreweli has graduated with a degree in anthropology from the University of Cambridge and previously held director-level roles at MI5 (which is loosely related to MI6 in the way the FBI and CIA handle internal and external intelligence/threats, respectively).

I have no reason to believe she isn't qualified, but since the British prime minister had to go and call her appointment "historic," as if we're still doing the dumb DEI stuff where we celebrate people's sexual preference, skin color, and/or genitals when hiring for a job, I knew the comments were going to be great.

And great they were:

Personally, I'm just glad a British woman will be able to serve as MI6 chief before British women are inevitably banned from working and forced to wear hijabs!
