A video captured the moment when 66-year-old flower vendor Juan Diaz was being robbed and beaten in South Los Angeles. Beaten until good Samaritan Gerardo Plascencia stepped in, put the attacker in a headlock, and punched the dude until he was unconscious.

Sadly, this wasn't the first time Diaz was assaulted. Last year, he was attacked and stabbed, again while selling flowers in South LA.

Plascencia, a recent immigrant from Cuba, told FOX11 that when he saw the elderly man being attacked, he thought, "It could have been my dad."

It was an impulse. Truthfully, I don't know how I did it. I saw no one was doing anything, but later when I reflected, I thought ‘thank God the man wasn't armed.'

Diaz was incredibly grateful for Plascencia's help, and tried his best to find him and thank him. He couldn't reach him until FOX11 got in touch with him and connected him with his good Samaritan. They got on a call together and Diaz continually thanked him. Plascencia simply said he did it from the heart.

Despite being attacked on these occasions, Diaz said that he's been working since he was six years old and can't just sit at home. So, he's already back out selling flowers.

The Diaz family has started a GoFundMe to cover his medical bills.
