Let's discuss the growing crisis of left-wing violence in our country

It's well past time to acknowledge the truth.

For all the media hand-wringing about "Christian Nationalism," all the pearl-clutching about the threat of authoritarianism from right-wing fascists, all the online hysterics about the rise of "white neo-Nazis," there is an intentional blind eye being turned to episodes of real violence, real death, real political terror.

  • Antifa violence was real and it was left-wing.

  • Black Lives Matter violence was real and it was left-wing.

  • The recent spate of transgender school shooters was real and it was left-wing.

Now, a second attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump was real and has all the continued markings of left-wing lunacy.

Let's state the obvious. Not all those with progressive politics, in fact not very many at all, would participate in or even condone any of the above. But too many of them are willfully turning a blind eye to what is fomenting from their corner of the culture.

Take what happened Saturday night. The imagery was chilling and disconcerting - Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris speaking in front of a dark backdrop at the Congressional Black Caucus dinner, warning the audience that its "vision" (and that of the country) is "under profound threat" should Donald Trump return to the White House.

A little over 12 hours later, a Secret Service agent would pounce on top of Trump again, shielding him from gunshots echoing in close proximity. A second would-be assassin, this time not taking a position on an inexplicably close and unguarded rooftop, but rather in an inexplicably close and unguarded row of shrubs at Trump's own golf course, was preparing to kill the former and perhaps future president just moments after security personnel thankfully saw the barrel of his rifle and engaged.

Thanks to internet sleuths, we have quickly uncovered much information about this assassin, Ryan Routh. But learning more as the investigation unfolds seems unlikely, given that we still know so very little about the first attempted assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks. Former First Lady Melania Trump recently voiced her own concerns about the slow drip of sparse information that has been forthcoming from law enforcement agencies about the July 13 attempt:

Now the silence around it feels heavy. I can't help but wonder why didn't law enforcement officials arrest shooter before the speech. There is definitely more to this story. And we need to uncover the truth.

After this most recent assassination attempt, Kamala Harris wasted little time in posting her gratitude that Trump was safe to social media. It's a kind gesture, but admittedly rings a bit hollow when coupled with her tone and terminology Saturday night.

Trotting out her now-infamously comedic go-to line about being "unburdened by what has been," the current vice president proclaimed her commitment to,

A vision for the future of our nation, a future where we can see what is possible, unburdened by what has been, a future where we fulfill the promise of America, a promise of freedom, opportunity and justice, not just for some, but for all.

To be blunt, in our current environment doesn't any desire for such things necessitate an immediate rollback of the hostile, aggressive hyperbole that likens your political opponent to Hitler, manipulates his every word to imply he holds antebellum views of racial minorities, and conveys to the ears of anyone registered to vote that he would usher in the death of global democracy?

No, I don't believe Vice President Harris is involved in any secretive plot to murder the former president. I'd say it's pretty apparent that her only chance of winning this election is to rely on and feed off of the anti-Trump fervor of her base. That disappears immediately if Trump were no longer in the picture.

But I also believe it's apparent that two assassination attempts in two months should speak volumes to her and all of those involved in the left-wing media/Democrat party political sphere that fueling the vitriolic hatred in deranged half-wits is itself proving to be a profound threat to the preservation of our democratic republic.

As is left-wing violence in general.
