Earlier in the day, Beckstrom's father indicated that his daughter was not expected to survive.
Beckstrom had volunteered to work over Thanksgiving so other troops could be with their families for the holiday.
Another Guardsman, Andrew Wolfe was also shot and remains in critical condition.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi indicated after Trump's update that the DOJ would be seeking the death penalty for Beckstrom's murderer.
The suspect previously served in the Afghan army in a CIA-backed unit and arrived in the U.S. during Joe Biden's 2021 withdrawal.
His motive has not yet been given.
